IMPORTANT!
The nice folks at Kennebec Service Center in Bingham have graciously allowed
us to use their parking area to the South of their facility - at the trail
crossing - again this year.
Please remember to park your vehicles and trailers on the
grassy side of the parking area,
and not on the gravel where the big
trucks park!
July 26, 2008 : The work party scheduled at the
Williams Dam in Solon for this coming Saturday has been Postponed until
further notice
July 27, 2008 : Jack
Liddell is hosting a ride to Greenville Junction and Kelly's Landing
Restaurant departing from the Kennebec Service Center in Bingham. Food and
fuel is available in Greenville. If you have never been on this ride,
consider it. Though it tends to be a long, dusty ride, it goes through some
beautiful country. There is some debate as to the total miles, it's agreed
that it's somewhere between 110 and 125 miles. Depending on how long we
lollygag on breaks, we should be back in Bingham between 5:30 and 7:30 pm.
While there are reports that some of the bad spots have been repaired, (like
the hole behind Moosehead Motorsports, and the 'lake' between Shirley and
Greenville) this probably isn't the best ride for beginners. Be sure to
bring goggles, bug spray and drinks. Also if your ATV is really thirsty,
bring extra fuel! It's well over 50 miles between fuel stops!
August 1-3, 2008 The Upper
Kennebec Valley River Festival. We have reserved the ATV Maine Safety and
Education Trailer. If you are not familiar with this, it is an enclosed
trailer that includes 2 youth ATVs. The kids get to ride the ATVs around a
small course supervised by trained volunteers. WE
NEED VOLUNTEERS to staff this project! ATV
Maine requires that one of their people give our volunteers a brief training
course. It's for good publicity and a good cause. Call Bill Lombard at
672-4823 for more info or to sign up!
August 2, 2008: Bingham Parade.
( a note
from your V.P.: If I remember correctly, we had about 40 machines in the
parade last year. We made quite an impression on the townsfolk and also on
the town officials. I'd love to see DOUBLE that number this year! Come on
folks! We have about 200 people in the club, it shouldn't be too big a
project to get 80 machines out there this year!) More details
about time and staging place coming soon."
